Some people wait for the system to change.
Maudra builds what comes after the waiting ends.

SCROLL

"If your policy doesn't land at the kitchen table, it's not working. MRB doesn't just read policy — we interrogate it, humanize it, and make it usable for those the system was never designed to serve."

WHAT WE STAND FOR

The Three Pillars

They are not service lines — they are commitments. Every engagement, facilitation, and partnership reflects all three.

01
PILLAR ONE
Policy Made Human
Complex federal and state policy — Medicaid shifts, maternal health investments, sweeping reform — translated into practical, people-centered strategies that reach communities too often left out of the conversation.
"We don't just read policy — we interrogate it, humanize it, and make it usable for those the system was never designed to serve."
02
PILLAR TWO
Infrastructure for Independent Leaders
As trust in large systems declines, MRB equips small consultancies, coalitions, and solo public health leaders — especially Black and Brown professionals — to build from the ground up. Lead from where you are, with what you have.
"Resilience means decentralization. We can't wait for top-down reform."
03
PILLAR THREE
Radical Facilitation
Trust-based spaces where community voices drive strategy. Whether in community halls or hospital boardrooms, Maudra blends empathy, storytelling, lived experience, and data to build consensus and move people from vision to action.
"Facilitation isn't icebreakers and flipcharts. It's cultivating trust deep enough to move systems."

THE PERSON BEHIND THE PRACTICE

Maudra Brown

"I've spent close to two decades inside systems. What I know is this: the policy is rarely the problem. The distance between the policy and the people is."

Maudra R. Brown is a public health consultant, strategist, and facilitator who translates policy into practice for communities that systems too often forget. Through MRB Public Health Consulting — a consultancy she founded in 2020 — she partners with health systems, public agencies, nonprofits, and independent leaders to design strategy that is equity-grounded, governance-ready, and community-tested.

With over 15 years of experience spanning state government, hospital systems, international research, and community-based work, Maudra brings a rare combination of technical rigor and human-centered practice. Her work includes directing quality improvement at the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services — overseeing a $40M annual budget — conducting HIV/AIDS research in Jamaica through Tulane University, and leading multi-site Community Health Needs Assessments across hospital systems nationally.

She is the founding board director of Blue Apple Battle, a community initiative focused on youth and family resilience, social-emotional learning, and harm-reduction-informed substance education. She is a keynote speaker, a committed voice in maternal and family health equity, a marathon finisher, and a proud slow runner.

MAUDRA ON THE STAGE

Speaking Topics

Maudra brings a prophetic, data-informed, and deeply human voice to every stage she occupies — from national public health convenings to community town halls. She doesn't just present information. She shifts perspective.

01
Policy Translation & Health Equity
Making complex federal and state policy legible and actionable for communities, practitioners, and leaders working at the margins of what systems were designed to reach.

A systems-level and lived-experience perspective on the structural conditions shaping birth outcomes, maternal health equity, and family-centered care in underserved communities.

Practical tools for building boards that actually govern — covering bylaws, committee structures, conflict-of-interest policies, and the leadership culture that makes governance work.
05
Building Infrastructure for Independent Leaders
For Black and Brown public health professionals building their own practices — the systems, strategy, and mindset required to lead from where you are without waiting for permission.
06
